OfficeWorks MBE Certification 2022

Minority Business Community

One of OfficeWorks’ core values is to help build a better community. Consistent with that value, through our position as a minority-owned business, we have embraced opportunities to give back and support the minority business community.

OfficeWorks’ Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Neil, is not only the founder of our company—he has served on the founding board of three organizations that support the Hispanic and Latino communities. In the late 1990s, as president of the then-Indianapolis Hispanic Chamber and a member of the Indy Chamber’s diversity council, Tom helped build the funds and structure that integrated the Hispanic Chamber into the Indy Chamber. Today, the Hispanic Business Council serves as a successful model for Chambers all over the country. In 2004, Tom served on a task force to merge three organizations into La Plaza Inc., providing better and more efficient support and creating a trusted link between Latinos and the larger Indianapolis community. Tom’s impact expanded again in 2011, when he served on the founding board of the Indiana Latino Expo, which supports Latino communities by creating awareness of their businesses; promoting economic development, cultural advancement, and educational opportunities; and providing health and wellness resources.

In addition to supporting existing businesses in the minority community, Tom and OfficeWorks are committed to investing in future generations of talent. Tom served on the founding advisory council for the Mexican Scholarship Fund. The fund—which Tom and OfficeWorks contribute to each year—awards $200,000+ in annual scholarships to Hispanic students in central Indiana. At the Indiana University School of Informatics & Computing, the “OfficeWorks – Tom O’Neil Scholarship” awards funds to students from underrepresented populations.
