OfficeWorks Back to the 90s
The 1990s were a crucial time of growth and innovation for OfficeWorks, marked by a tremendous expansion from $10.8 million to $32 million – an almost 300% increase.
Back to the 1990s
"In the decade of the 90s we were fortunate enough to continue our great growth trend of the late 80s and saw us almost triple our revenues by the end of the decade. Helping fuel that growth was a decision that we made to broaden our service capabilities and give our customers a single point of contact for many of their facility needs. This began in 1992 when we purchased a furniture services company and renamed it Officeworks Services. This was followed in 1993 by starting Storageworks, a materials handling equipment company, and Corporate Floorworks (1995) a commercial flooring dealer. At the end of 1996, Herman Miller moved away from the Office Pavilion concept, and we subsequently consolidated our menu of services under the OfficeWorks name.
Another impact of our tremendous growth of the 90’s is that we outgrew another space, and eventually built a new showroom/warehouse on the recently renovated downtown canal extension. Working with the City of Indianapolis, we became the first commercial business to build in this new district. And no commentary about the 90’s would be complete without mentioning the introduction of the Herman Miller Aeron chair in 1994. This iconic piece revolutionized the office seating world, is featured in the Museum of Modern Art, and is still the top selling office chair in the world!"
1990s:
The 1990s marked a pivotal era for Office Pavilion, characterized by significant expansion and innovation. Building upon strong client relationships established at the decade's start, the company's revenues surged from $10.8 million to $32 million, a nearly 300% increase.
1991-1996:
To expand our market reach and provide a more comprehensive solution for our clients, we established OfficeWorks Group in 1992. This new entity incorporated OfficeWorks Services (acquired in 1992), Storageworks (focused on material handling equipment, established in 1993), and Corporate Floorworks (specializing in commercial flooring, founded in 1995). By consolidating all operations under the OfficeWorks name in late 1996, we streamlined our offerings and strengthened our brand identity.
1994:
The groundbreaking Aeron chair is introduced and quickly became a popular choice for offices worldwide due to its ergonomic design and innovative features.
1996:
Office Pavilion rebrands itself to OfficeWorks to better reflect its expanding service offerings.

1998:
OfficeWorks makes a significant investment in its future by opening a new 40,000-square-foot showroom/warehouse in the downtown canal extension. This move positions the company as a pioneer in the revitalization of the area and provides it with a modern, spacious facility to showcase its products and services.
