Back to the 2010s

After the two significant recessions in the previous decade, the 10s were a period of recovery and growth for both our industry and for Officeworks. We began the decade by acquiring the Indianapolis office of one of our fellow Herman Miller dealers, Continental Office Environments. By the end of the decade, we had achieved over 250% growth and exceeded $40M in sales for the first time. With our sales growth, we were fortunate to grow our team from 39 employees in 2010 to 61 employees by the end of the decade. It was also the first decade in our history when we didn’t move our showroom, having settled into a terrific space in Fishers.

On the national front, Herman Miller, our flagship product, had several significant developments beginning with the introduction of another award-winning chair, the Sayl, in 2010 and Canvas, their most successful systems furniture line in 2011. That same year, continuing their leadership in environmental stewardship, they also became the first company in the furniture industry and one of the first companies in the world to fuel 100% of their facilities with renewable energy. In 2014, with an eye on the burgeoning online consumer channel, Herman Miller acquired Design Within Reach, the largest retailer of authentic modern furniture and accessories in the world. Continuing their pursuit of a broad brand offering for their customers, Herman Miller acquired a majority stake in HAY, a renowned designer and manufacturer of high quality and accessible Scandinavian designs for the home and workplace.
